Bathroom baskets are indispensable in bathrooms.
Whether the wicker basket you probably think of
first, or a more modern chrome mesh basket, both are
interwoven and strain water rather than collect it.
This makes them very useful.
Woven baskets are used as soap dishes, bathtub
trays, and shower shelves. Depending on your taste
in style of décor, you can use metal baskets to
highlight the theme of your entire bathroom. One
idea is the sleek chrome and marble of the 1920s. Or
you might have a basket placed in the background of
an English country cottage look.
We all want soap dishes that drain to avoid soap
scum buildup. The dirt and mold that also cling to
solid soap dishes don’t have a chance in a woven
basket. Bathrooms are humid environments. The less
water a bathroom accessory accumulates, the better.
Bathroom baskets, including shower racks, sponge
trays, and bathtub reading racks, as well as soap
dishes, discourage the growth of mold.
Soap and sponge dishes near sinks, showers, and tubs
are best permanently fixed to the wall with screws.
Bathtub trays rest on the sides of the tub. Shower
baskets usually hang over the downspout of the
shower fixture, although they may also be
permanently fastened to the wall tile with screws.
It’s easy to install bathroom baskets; the only hard
part is selecting the one you want from among the
variety of styles available.
