All bathroom rugs are contemporary! It wasn’t
until the manufacture of manmade fibers that the
revolutionary idea of having a rug in the bathroom
became possible. Although we've always liked the
idea of having a mat in the bathroom to absorb the
water that drips off of us as we get out of the
shower or tub, actually putting decorative rugs in
the bathroom is a new practice because until fairly
recently, it just wasn't practical.
Synthetic fibers are not absorbent in the same way
that cotton, wool, and silk are. They don’t absorb
moisture into their fibers and rot and grow mold.
Area rugs for bathrooms dry out quickly, don’t
mildew, and make the bathroom more cheerful and
comfortable.
Actually, some bathroom rugs are made of cotton,
rather than synthetics. Cotton can be easily washed
in a washing machine and are treated to dry without
shrinking.
Rugs suitable for the bathroom are also suitable for
children’s rooms. They are durable and can be easily
cleaned. They’re also generally designed in the
bright, clear colors that children like. Bathroom
rugs don’t have to be confined to the bathroom!
