Updating Your Bathrooms Décor

Often, bathroom décor is at the bottom of the list of priorities in home decoration.

Sometimes this is because people don’t know how to make a small space attractive. Other times, it’s because people believe it’s not important to spend money on a room that few people but the family will see. The guest bath usually gets more attention than the master bath. But the truth is that you and your family are the most important people in your home, and you deserve the most luxurious bathroom possible!

Depending on your bathroom, upgrading your bathroom décor might be as easy as selecting a new fabric for window shades. The color and pattern should be coordinated with the color of the shower curtain. Bath towels and hand towels should complement the fabric in the curtains. To complement the fabric, choose a subtle color in the fabric and buy paint in that color for the walls. Since bathrooms are usually small, it won’t take much paint to complete the job.

Another suggestion for enhancing your bathroom décor is to change the light fixture. You might prefer the utmost in simplicity or something eye catching and intricate. You can achieve elegance, character, and personality with simple changes in lighting and accessories. If you have a plain mirror, you can dress it up with a frame. A live plant on the vanity or window sill can make a big difference.

If your bathroom walls are made of dark wood, which can give a small space a closed-in feeling, you might paint it a light shade or replace it with light-colored paneling. You can dress up the cabinetry with shiny new knobs and handles or hardware with an antique look, depending on the theme of your bathroom. You can buy a basket and make an attractive display of your scented soaps, lotions, and shampoos by grouping them together in a basket. This will not only add a personal touch, but also save space.
